Thanks for helping us make the inaugural Philly Grocery Co-op Day a huge success!

We enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate the work of co-ops in our stores, at City Hall with the Mayor during the Proclamation Ceremony, and in the media.

Remember, Passports are still available! We encourage everyone to visit area co-ops, collect Passport stamps, and win prizes until Nov. 1, 2019!

Philly Grocery Co-op Day — Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019

A day to discover — and celebrate — the good that our Philly-area grocery co-ops do for our local food system and communities.

  • Vendors * Raffles * Specials * Co-op Swag
  • (And for South Philly, Hard Hat Tours, 10-11 a.m. and 2-3 p.m)
  • Grab a Philly Grocery Co-op Day Passport and win rewards for each co-op you visit!

Saturday, Oct. 19 marks the inaugural Philadelphia Grocery Co-op Day declared by the City of Philadelphia. Commemorating the day, Kensington Community Food Co-op, Mariposa Food Co-op, South Philly Food Co-op, Swarthmore Co-op, and Weavers Way Co-op will host a day of activities and customer incentives, including local vendors showing off their products, raffles, and other special deals.

The co-ops have developed a range of educational programming about what co-ops are and how they dramatically and effectively assist local communities and the economy. Together, Philly-area co-ops create a robust local food network in which new product vendors can find footing while classic Philadelphia vendors can continue to shine before area customers.

Every October, National Co-op Month celebrates the community contributions and positive global impact of co-ops everywhere. The five co-ops in and around Philadelphia have more than 16,000 co-op members, support more than 400 employees, and source products from more than 500 local businesses. Mayor Jim Kenney has recognized Philadelphia as having one of the most thriving grocery co-op marketplaces in the country.
